Gadigal Metro
Gadigal Metro
Gadigal Metro Station, part of Sydney Metro City and Southwest, sits beneath one of Sydney’s busiest urban precincts, framed by the commercial tower Parkline Place.
The client engaged us to design and manufacture ceiling systems for both the station entries and the OSD tower above. Initial involvement came through Brighton and Foxville before transitioning into direct collaboration with CPB Contractor’s design team to coordinate setting-out, services integration, and installation details.
Design & Product Selection
The project called for a linear ceiling system with a distinctive bronze finish—durable enough for semi-external station environments and refined enough to complement the architectural ambition of the space.
Our Enterprise 400 batten system was selected for its versatility and ability to meet stringent technical and visual requirements. The system’s modular format allowed for seamless integration of access panels and acoustic infills, while maintaining a consistent batten layout.
The client chose our Enterprise 400 batten system for its versatility and ability to meet stringent technical and visual requirements.
Key Design Features
Our batten ceiling solutions were installed above the Park Street and Bathurst Street entrances—key pedestrian access points and prominent public interfaces. Positioned alongside Callum Morton’s The Underneath, large-format tiled artworks, the linear ceilings help frame the high-traffic thresholds. The bronze battens bring warmth and form to the space, offering both visual impact and acoustic absorption. We custom-designed the column rings and perimeter trims to ensure a clean, cohesive finish across complex junctions.
Challenges & Solutions
Designing for semi-external conditions required us to solve for wind loading, acoustic performance, and durability. We developed specialised brackets to hold acoustic infill panels securely in place and designed custom access hatches that were fully integrated into the ceiling system. To assist the site team, we provided installation documentation and on-call technical support—ensuring precise execution across all areas, especially those with structural constraints.
Our Difference
Our ability to adapt standard systems to meet bespoke project demands was a key factor in our selection. The client chose us for our technical expertise, reliable delivery, and commitment to design integrity. Our early engagement and collaborative approach allowed us to align with architectural intent and solve key detailing challenges.
Conclusion
Our contribution at Gadigal Metro Station demonstrates the strength of tailored design solutions in complex public environments. The result is a resilient batten ceiling solution that enhances the station’s warm, welcoming feel while meeting practical performance goals.
